
LOS ANGELES (LALATE) ? A northern California earthquake today 2013 has erupted near Fort Bragg. The California earthquake today Friday, January 11, 2013 began in the predawn morning hours. No reports of damage have yet to be detailed by local news. The quake marks one of the strongest to strike the region so far this year.
Officials tell news that shortly before 3 am local time a 3.3 magnitude earthquake erupted northeast of Fort Bragg. The quake, however, had virtually no depth. USGS indicates to news that the quake started five miles below the earth?s surface.
USGS reports that the quake began twnety-seven miles north east of Fort Bragg. The quake was centered close to Laytonville, approximately eight miles outside town. The quake was also fourteen miles east of Rockport and fifteen miles east of Cape Vizcaino. Officials tell news that the quake was forty-eight miles northwest of Ukiah and one hundred forty miles northwest of Sacramento.
In related news, a moderate earthquake struck northern Mexico near the Southern California border overnight. A 2.8 magnitude quake struck near midnight last night. Officials report that the quake was nine miles west of Guadalupe Victoria and thirty-one miles west of San Luis Rio Colorado. The quake was also roughly two hundred miles east of Phoenix.
